Why Inner Child Work?
We all carry stories, emotions, and wounds from our earliest years. They show up in our adult lives in subtle (and not so subtle) ways, from the way we respond to stress to how we navigate relationships and parenting. Inner child work helps you explore these emotional layers with kindness and curiosity.
Whether you’re here for your own healing or to become a more emotionally attuned parent, learning to meet your inner child with compassion can be truly transformative. The more we understand ourselves, the better we can support our children.

What’s Inside the Workbook
This beautifully simple guide offers two core exercises:
- Draw Your Inner Child – using your non-dominant hand to invite playfulness and vulnerability
- Create a Dialogue – a written conversation between your adult and child self
Each step is designed to be accessible, safe, and deeply supportive, no experience needed.

Support for You
Inner child work can stir up emotions, but you won’t be alone.
This workbook includes grounding practices and prompts to help you feel steady and supported throughout.
You can pause, take a breath, and return whenever you’re ready.

Parenting from a Place of Healing
Understanding your inner world doesn’t just help you; it directly supports your child’s emotional well-being.
When you learn to soothe your own triggers and fears, you become more available, grounded, and empathetic as a parent.

NICE TO MEET YOU
I'm Nicki Saunders
I’m a counsellor, clinical supervisor, and now a published author dedicated to empowering parents. My journey into counselling started in my mid-20s when I sought help for myself. A counsellor’s words then planted a seed that eventually grew into a fulfilling career helping others heal and thrive.
As a wife, mother to two grown children, and a proud dog owner, I’ve faced many of the same challenges that you may be facing right now. Growing up in the ’70s with emotionally unavailable parents, I knew I wanted a different path for my own family. Recognising the patterns from my childhood, I worked hard to break those cycles, shaping my parenting approach with intention and love. My aim is to help you to do the same, for you to be able to look back on your relationship with your children and be proud of the connection you have built.
In December 2024, I released my debut book, Who Made You The Milk Police, sharing practical strategies and insights to help parents just like you to navigate parenting challenges with confidence and ease.
Supporting you in helping your children to thrive is my passion.Â
I advocate that prevention is far better than cure. Having spent my whole career in the cure arena, I have developed a wealth of insight and experience into what works and doesn't work in the parenting world and how influential our childhood is on who we become.
Embracing change is essential for preparing our children for what lies ahead, and I cannot wait to work with you on your journey.
